The Iron Mountain Road and Trail Half Marathon is approaching its sixth year of successful Dickinson County racing. Last year’s event played host to almost 350 runners and we hopeful for continued growth this year.
The effect of local community support and participation is the key to making the race a success and is felt, not only in the $35,000 donated to the Dickinson County Cancer Loan Closet, but also in the lives that are touched and changed with each footfall through our city streets. Though 73% of our participants came from within a 50-mile radius of Iron Mountain, we were please to introduce 27% of our participants to the beautiful Iron Mountain area as we welcomed runners from more than ten different states.
In 2014, we introduced a 3-person relay event and are eager to share it with our community. Legs 1--3.4 miles, 2--6 miles and 3--3.7 miles (distances are approximate) will follow the same course as our traditional racers and will allow all abilities of runners to share in our great course without committing to the full distance.
James Harvey Moore, a member of our 2014 Corporate Challenge winning team, exemplified the spirit of our race and everything that is great about running. For "Harvey", it was never about winning or losing, it was about enjoying every single step alongside people he loved, laughing and sweating and making memories with every mile.
The James Harvey Moore Memorial Corporate Challenge is an important element of the Iron Mountain Road and Trail Half Marathon 3-person Relay promoting teamwork, a healthy workforce, corporate health and maintaining a work/life balance. The JHM Memorial Corporate Challenge is an opportunity for workmates to participate in a social atmosphere outside of the workplace, while promoting a healthy, active lifestyle. Named for
The JHM Memorial Corporate Challenge also provides an opportunity for positive competition among corporate teams, as well as a chance to network within the business community.
